What's the difference between a jaw crusher and a cone crusher? Crusher manufacturer Anshan breaks it down. Jaw crusher vs cone crusher, which crushing equipment is better.

Jaw Crusher vs Cone Crusher

Jaw crushers and cone crushers are both classic stack crushers. They are also the most mainstream types of crushers. Jaw crushers are usually used as primary crushers and secondary crushers. The cone crusher is usually used as a secondary crusher or tertiary crusher. Jaw crushers and cone crushers are usually arranged in two stages on a rock crushing plant.

The jaw crusher crushes the rock to a size of 10 to 30 cm. Cone crushers further crush the rock to less than 10 cm. Large cone crushers (gyratory crushers) can also be used as head crushers. The fine jaw crusher can also be used as a secondary crusher to crush stone to the centimeter size range.

Differences between a jaw crusher and a cone crusher

Crushing Principle

Cone crushers and jaw crushers are a stacked crushing principle. It is also commonly known as the impact crushing principle The nature of the crushing does not change much, although the crushing actuator uses a different structure. The cone crusher uses an extrusion process between the grinding wall and the crushing wall. Jaw crushers use an extrusion process between the moving jaw plate and the static jaw plate.

Application Areas

Cone crushers and jaw crushers are used in a wide range of applications, but the applicability of the two types of crushers is different. The jaw crusher has the widest range of adaptability and can meet the crushing requirements of almost any kind of material. The cone crusher also has wide applicability, but the Metso cone crusher is expensive. Low-cost impact crushers are available for low corrosive materials. As a result, the Metso cone crusher has reduced economic applicability.

Secondary Crushing

The fine jaw crusher is mostly used as a secondary crusher. It can crush materials below 200mm to the centimeter level. Two jaw crushers can be combined to form a complete crushing line. The fine jaw crusher has a low capacity alone, and breaking capacity below 100tph can only be obtained by connecting two machines in parallel.

The cone crusher is a secondary crushing plant with a single crushing capacity of several hundred tons per hour. It has an absolute advantage in terms of capacity. Therefore, fine crushing jaw crushers can only be used in secondary crushing plants with smaller capacities. Cone crushers can be used in high-capacity secondary crushing plants.

Pairing

The matching of jaw crushers and cone crushers is based on crushing segments. Consideration needs to be given to whether the size of the jaw crusher can enter the cone crusher to form a secondary crushing. For example, a compound cone crusher configured after the jaw crusher. Jaw crusher plant crushing too large discharge can block the cone crusher feed opening. This results in the crusher not operating smoothly.

For the matching of jaw crushers and cone crushers. It is necessary to compare the particle size range of the two materials. And use the best matching range can get the most efficient production operation status.
